Our Story
Est. 2022
Lykke Communities was born out of a burning desire to make a lasting impact on the communities that we serve in how people connect to one another.
Our founder, Brie Taralson, was a healthcare leader on the career climb when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. A wife and mom of two young children (including an infant), and a senior leader of several regional clinics, life before the pandemic hit was already full. The permanent crisis mode that healthcare organizations acted in led Brie and colleagues to burnout.

Creating Connection One Community At A Time
Lykke Communities
Lykke Communities (“LOO-kah”) has a mission: to inspire a happier, more vibrant community by fostering meaningful relationships in the spaces we live, work, and play.
This includes using public health strategies to support policies, systems, and environments where connection becomes the default by designing spaces that promote belonging, inclusion, and cohesion. What Makes Us Happy and Healthy?
An ongoing Harvard Study of Adult Development shows a strong association between happiness and close relationships like spouses, family, friends, and social circles – and happiness is associated with longer life expectancy, and better overall quality of life – even when controlling for factors like socio-economic status.
Meaningful social connections are not only a key driver to happiness – they are also a protective factor for our ability to bounce back from traumatic experiences: resilience.
“Close relationships, more than money or fame, are what keep people happy throughout their lives, the study revealed. Those ties protect people from life’s discontents, help to delay mental and physical decline, and are better predictors of long and happy lives than social class, IQ, or even genes.”
Robert Waldinger
Director of the study, a psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital and a professor of psychiatry and Harvard Medical School
